Horse Colors

On Horse World Online, there are many different colors that Horses can have. All of the colors on the game are as close to real as possible. This means that the game follows real life horse color genetics as best that it can. For this reason, knowing a bit about color genetics in horses is very helpful when you want to know how to breed certain colors or simply want to know what color your horse is.

Horses are either Black or Chestnut based. No matter what color your horse is, it will either have a black or chestnut base for its color.

Things to keep in mind when determining Color:
- Horses have a "foal coat" for the first year they are alive which fades to their real color as they get older. It is seen on HWO as white-ish legs and a lighter looking underside.

In addition to having either a black or chestnut base, a horse may have one or more color modifiers or dilutions. Modifiers and dilutions can make the horse look different colors depending on it's base coat. The following links will explain each of the Modifiers and Dilutions you may see in horses.

Horses can also have one or more Patterns and White Markings present.
